After nearly four weeks’ enforced lay off due to illness, it was great to get back playing again. But tonight would have been one of those nights that we all enjoyed immensely anyway, whatever the circumstances.
Bellhouse Road WMC is quite a big club and is used to hosting big-hitter club bands, especially on Sundays. But Concert Sec “Fast Eddie” and Webmaster/Photographer/Reviewer Carl have been very successful at putting on a Friday “Rock Night” at the club featuring local bands that are normally only seen on the pub circuit. Judging from member's comments, and also by the turnout last night, it seems to be going down well with their audiences as well.
Of course, it’s quite a different scene in Clubland from the pubs, and yes…there are a couple of obligatory bingo sessions and an “open-the-box” game…but hey, people seem to enjoy it, and it does give the band a break.
Soundwise, things were superb on stage, and from the comments we got, it sounded pretty good out front as well. It’s a good crowd in here, and we’re sure it’ll be the same for the other bands that play here too – when Fast Eddie first mentioned that the club was well known for its rock-loving audiences I have to admit to being a bit sceptical. But it’s true (it’s quite refreshing to see loads of people wandering around a club wearing AC/DC and other band T-shirts!)…they know their stuff and they appreciate it when it’s played to them. We hope we get the chance to play here again…it’s a really good venue!!
Besides Eddie and Carl, thanks go to Ken in the box, and once again our thanks to Alex for his help setting up the gear, and operating the smoke machine!
Great Stuff!
